In the morning of 9 May 2021, the domestically-made MA600 aircraft escorted China's aid team and anti-epidemic materials to Laos, and arrived in Luang Prabang Airport from the Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, Laos, supporting the Chinese team of anti-epidemic experts to quickly enter the epidemic area in northern Laos to engage in the fight against the epidemic.
In April 2021, a super spreader of covid appeared in Laos. The epidemic has spread rapidly. The number of confirmed cases has exceeded 1,000. The Lao government has adopted various anti-epidemic measures, but the trend of epidemic spread has not improved, which is harmful to Laos’ economic development and people’s lives. On 25 April, Xi Jinping and Lao President Thong Lun exchanged congratulatory messages on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, and pointed out that the governments and peoples of China and Laos will “work together and fight the epidemic together” in order to help the Lao government and Laotians fight the epidemic and overcome the difficulties together. On 4 May, CCP China dispatched a 25-member anti-epidemic expert team covering infection, critical illness, nursing and inspection and other specialties to Laos.
In the northern region of Laos that the expert team visited this time, there are many confirmed covid patients, and ground transportation is inconvenient. The anti-epidemic task is arduous. To ensure that the expert team can quickly go to the epidemic area to understand the epidemic, transport anti-epidemic materials and medicines, and engage in anti-epidemic work, the Lao government specially arranged for Lao Skyway MA600 to escort the expert team to the affected area.
The MA 60/600 aircraft is a 50-seat regional aircraft independently developed and produced in China. It is very suitable for passenger and cargo transportation in areas with inconvenient ground transportation and short-distance feeder routes. Laos is the first user country of MA600 in Asia and Lao Skyway the first operator of the aircraft type. Since 2006, 8 MA 60/600 aircraft have continued to play roles in various fields such as flight routes, government aircraft and emergency rescue in Laos with excellent technical performance. The economic operating cost and comprehensive service guarantee system of the aircraft types have won the love of the Lao government and people.
