It is taken for granted that everyone follows TSA regulations on packing and checking-in baggage but how updated is everyone on TSA regulations?

As of 16 March 2020, the official web-site of TSA states that during the covid pandemic until further notice, TSA is allowing passengers to bring onboard the aircraft hand sanitizer containers up to 354.88 millimetres.

The TSA web-site states, "TSA is allowing passengers to bring hand sanitizer containers by up to 12 ounces to be permitted in carry-on bags until further notice.  Passengers can expect that these containers larger than the standard allowance of 3.4 ounces of liquids permitted through a checkpoint will need to be screened separately, which will add more time to their checkpoint screening experience."

12 ounces is 354.88 ml while 3.4 ounces is 100 ml after conversion.

Experts have advised that putting on surgical face masks for travel does not necessarily prevent one from coronavirus infection. Face masks are for those who have fallen ill or who are working on the frontlines. To prevent possible infection, they advise everyone to wash hands with soap or with hand sanitizers thoroughly and not touch their faces.

Hand sanitizer containers are portable. If all airlines, all airports and all countries are aware of the new TSA regulation on hand sanitizer containers or have allowed the 354.88 ml maximum liquid capacity of hand sanitizer containers, travel bans and restrictions need not have necessarily been imposed.

A hand sanitizer container on public sale in a Singapore shop at 11 Dollars has liquid capacity of 500 ml. The container of the same capacity costs more online, eg. at Lazada although a cheap hand sanitizer at liquid capacity of 60 ml is available from $2.75. At Jplang.com, a hand sanitizer at capacity of 100 ml is available from $7.80.

Manufacturers should consider coming up with and selling hand sanitizer containers (up to 350 ml) suitable for carry-on use in the aircraft cabins. If possible, these containers should be packed into travel toiletry bags for the travelers' convenience.

This is because as TSA further adds, "Please keep in mind that all other liquids, gels and aerosols brought to a checkpoint continue to be allowed at the limit of 34 ounces or 100 milliliters carried in a one quart-size bag."
