According to the Law Enforcement and Supervision Bureau of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, a staff of the bureau confirmed that the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued an "urgent notice" on 28 March 2020 to the country's  KTV pubs, Internet cafes, movie theatres and other entertainment venues to close their premises temporarily until further notice.

Previously, the official epidemic prevention agency of Sichuan Province issued Bulletin No. 14 on 25 March 2020, announcing the termination of the agency's previously issued Bulletin No. 9, regarding the closure of entertainment areas where people, such as bars, dance halls, movie theaters, and electronic game halls, were closed. After that, a number of entertainment venues resumed business one after another. Unexpectedly, only three days later, the policy completely reversed.

Jinjiang District ’s attractive ATT KTV (Dongda Store), Meredith and many other KTVs in Chengdu also accepted in a telephone interview with mainland China media that they had received notices from the cultural and tourism departments on 28 March to suspend business and have subsequently announced suspensions.
