Image : Hongkou Football Stadium, Shanghai, has become a makeshift hospital.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage in Beijing, Shanghai and Hubei.
Du Yangming, a Shanghai dissident, told Voice of Hope Radio that on 8 March 2020 in Shanghai, the Hongkou Football Stadium in Shanghai has been turned into a makeshift hospital (square cabin hospital).
He said: "(Hongkou Football Stadium) is a transit point for the epidemic, which is equivalent to the Wuhan square cabin hospital, and the last quarantine area proves that the original Shanghai practice of using hotels to isolate pneumonia patients is no longer sufficient, indicating that the epidemic has developed. Otherwise, why did the square cabin hospital not appear for a few months, and why did it appear the day before yesterday? I suspect (official) that the epidemic situation was concealed. A hospital at the Hongkou football stadium is not enough, and similar quarantine places will appear again."
Taiwan's "Min Bao" quoted news from Taiwanese businessmen in Beijing on 10 March 2020 that the epidemic situation in Beijing is worsening and the disaster situation is no less than Wuhan, but the news is strictly blocked. Beijing has rushed to resume work. Frequent outbreaks of cluster infections have occurred. At least 14 cases have occurred. The factories opened have been closed shortly, showing that the epidemic in China is still not optimistic.
Despite the epidemic, the China Communist Party (CCP) still insists on promoting resumption of work and production. The CCP announced that Wuhan will remove all masks in April, and China will resume work.
On 10 March 2020, Qianjiang City, Hubei announced that the closure of the city would be lifted on 11 March but the official soon retracted the order and announced the continued blockade. The hype of "full resumption of work" in Hubei also came to an end.
Earlier, similar incidents occurred in Wuhan that had just opened and closed. External analysis shows that the internal opinions of the CCP are different, and changes are frequently made. However, this incident also reflected from the side that the epidemic situation in Hubei is still serious. Within the CCP's decision-making level, the two forces eager to declare a "victory against the epidemic" and advocate to continue to control the epidemic are still playing a game.
The CCP’s ideology has long since gone bankrupt, and “developing the economy” is already the only source of legitimacy for the CCP’s rule. If work is not resumed and the economy collapse happens, it will be an unbearable burden for the CCP. Experts analyzed that the CCP's cover-up of the epidemic and the forced resumption of labour were to safeguard the rule and make a gamble on the lives of the people.
