Late snow in Tokyo on 29 March 2020 after 51 years

Late snow in March hit Tokyo after 51 years. The situation was rare.

The Japan Meteorological Agency stated that snowfall (1 centimetre) began in the northern part of Kanto region and the Koshin mountain area in the early morning of 29 March 2020 while the flat land in the southern part of the Kanto region, such as the 23 districts in Tokyo, also began to change from rainfall to snow in the morning, and some areas even had snow.

The snow in Tokyo lasted till 12 pm.

Due to heavy snow in the morning, some air flights were cancelled. For example, Japan Airlines cancelled 20 flights from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Hokkaido New Chitose Airport and Kyushu Fukuoka Airport from 7 am to 10 am.
