The China Communist Party (CCP) boasted that it has successfully contained the spread of the covid epidemic in mainland China but many Chinese have questioned CCP for covering up the epidemic.  Various sources, however, said that the epidemic situation is still serious, and Shanghai and  Wuhan have set up or built square cabin hospitals secretly. Beijing have recently announced the relaunch of Xiaotangshan Hospital but earlier news showed that Xiaotangshan Hospital in Beijing may have started expansion secretly. Liaoning is building three COVID-19 (covid, in short) hospitals.

The Beijing party media quoted an official report from Beijing saying that the Xiaotangshan Hospital had been "launched" since 16 March 2020, with a total of "1,000 beds", but no specific number of beds was listed. When Xiaotangshan Hospital first opened in 2003, it only had 1,000 beds.

Officials said that the use of Xiaotangshan "is mainly used for medical screening and diversion of overseas (return) personnel from Beijing."

However, the notification also announced that Xiaotangshan Hospital is also responsible for "suspected cases and treatment of light and ordinary diagnosed patients", and has completed all facilities such as wards, laboratory testing, image inspection, disinfection protection, sewage treatment, fire safety, etc. in the expansion area. Hundreds of medical staff are stationed, specializing in respiratory, infection, critical care, emergency, pediatrics, Chinese medicine, testing, radiation, pharmacy, etc., and also form a remote consultation mechanism with other municipal Wuhan designated hospitals for covid treatment.

Such a detailed description shows that the official claim that "mainly used for medical screening of foreign personnel" may actually be a "secondary function" of Xiaotangshan because medical screening only requires rapid virus detection.

In fact, as early as 28 January 2020, local party media CGTN reported that Xiaotangshan Hospital was being rebuilt and doctors had already stationed at the hospital. The report said that the hospital "is expected to reopen in the near future." However, Beijing officials have consistently refused to publicly acknowledge Xiaotangshan's relaunch. At the time, an online video showed that there had been a large number of ambulance activities near the hospital, and netizens suspected that they were transferring covid patients to the hospital.

On 21 February 2020, Radio Free Asia also quoted an anonymous source to disclose that the Xiaotangshan Hospital has started the expansion project, and many workers take turns to construct it. Some analysts said that in less than a month, Xiaotangshan changed from "reconstruction" to "expansion", indicating that the covid epidemic in Beijing is serious.

Since late February, online news have revealed that patients in several hospitals in Beijing are overcrowded. Beijing authorities have ordered prevention and control to be upgraded to Wuhan level, and medical teams stopped supporting Wuhan.

On 10 March 2020, Taiwan's "Min Bao" quoted Taiwanese businessmen in Beijing as saying that the epidemic situation in Beijing is worsening and the disaster situation is no less than Wuhan, but the news is strictly blocked. Beijing has rushed to resume work. At least 14 cluster infections have occurred. Factories re-opened have been closed.

According to the official CCP data, newly confirmed cases nationwide outside Wuhan have been “cleared” for many days. There is widespread concern that the CCP has concealed the epidemic, and that a second severe outbreak may occur at any time after full resumption of work and "return to normal life."

While the domestic data is "clearing", the CCP is vigorously hyping "the virus originated overseas" and highlighting the so-called "foreign imported cases." Overseas public opinion believes that the CCP is preparing a "scapegoat" for China's next wave of outbreaks. Beijing announced the "relaunch of Xiaotangshan" through the so-called "screening of overseas returnees", or further verified the above inference.

In addition to Beijing's launch of Xiaotangshan Hospital, Shanghai dissident Du Yangming told Voice of Hope Radio that Shanghai has utilized the Hongkou Football Stadium as a square cabin hospital since 8 March 2020.

US-based NTDTV and NTD media teams also received news that the city of Jinzhou in  Liaoning Province is stepping up the construction of a so-called "centralized treatment centre for infectious diseases." It is the Liaoning version of Xiaotangshan Hospital as it is an expansion of the Jinzhou Zijingshan Centre for Infectious Diseases that accommodates covid patients only. It is said that a group of South Korean covid patients will be transferred to the newly-expanded quarantine hospital for covid treatment centre from Dalian.

The covid treatment centre of Jinzhou is located in Zijingshan (Bauhinia Mountain), five kilometre east of Jinzhou, and is one of the three infectious disease hospitals in Liaoning Province. The hospital has secretly built a five-kilometre-long special passageway to the top of the mountain, and its subgrade project took only six days to complete. Construction of the pavement guarded by special police is underway. The entire project, including the construction of wards and roads, is called the "Liaoning Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Centralized Treatment Jinzhou Centre Project".

The two other covid treatment centres of Liaoning Province are being constructed in Shenyang and Dalian.

According to netizen news leak, Wuhan is building a 4,000-square-foot hospital in the suburbs of the Fourth Ring Road, and barbed wire and power grids are being set up around it, just like concentration camps.
