According to the website of the National Health and Medical Commission of the Communist Party of China, from 12 am of 19 March 2020 to 12 am of 20 March 2020, 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have reported 39 new confirmed cases, 3 cases (2 in Hubei and 1 in Liaoning) and 31 new suspected domestic cases.
The 31 new suspected cases signal the start of the second outbreak of covid in mainland China. Investigations are under way to establish the source of infection.
The 39 new confirmed cases are travelers arriving at the international epidemic checkpoints of mainland China
On the same day, 730 new cases were cured and discharged, and 1197 persons who had been in close contact with medical observation were released, and 178 severe cases were reduced.
As of 12 am on 20 March, according to reports from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, there were 6,569 confirmed cases (including 2136 severe cases), 71,150 cured cases, and 3,248 death cases. A total of 58,381 discharged patients were cured (41,389 in Wuhan), 3,132 deaths (2,498 in Wuhan), and 67,800 confirmed cases (5,0005 in Wuhan). There were 0 new suspected cases (0 in Wuhan) and 0 existing suspected cases (0 in Wuhan).
On 19 March 2020, 39 newly diagnosed imported cases were reported (14 in Guangdong, 8 in Shanghai, 6 in Beijing, 3 in Fujian, 1 case each in Tianjin, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Gansu). As of 12 am of 20 March 2020, a total of 228 confirmed cases have been reported at the mainland China checkpoints.
A total of 333 confirmed cases have been reported in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan: 208 cases in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (98 patients discharged, 4 deaths), 17 cases in Macau Special Administrative Region (10 patients discharged) and 108 cases in Taiwan (26 patients discharged, 1 death).
