A critically ill Florida man is now out of danger after taking a drug recommended by President Trump. Multiple cured or improved cases have confirmed that the drug is indeed effective against COVID-19 (covid, in short).
On 23 March 2020, President Trump retweeted a report from the New York Post on Twitter and announced that a drug effective for covid will begin trials on Tuesday. It will be popularized in New York and other cities.
The drug recommended by President Trump through the retweeted post is hydroxychloroquine. The prescription drug is used to treat diseases such as malaria and lupus but it shows promise in treating covid although health officials have not approved it.
Trump said last week that he was instructing the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to conduct rapid tests for hydroxychloroquine and related drug chloroquine to treat covid.
Andrew McCarthy, contributing editor of National Review and Fox News writer, also quoted The Wall Street Journal on Monday saying that experience has shown that hydroxychloroquine should be the first-line treatment for covid. It can be used to save lives and prevent infections from others.
Kyle Bass, a US hedge fund boss and founder of Hayman Capital Management, also tweeted on Monday that one of his friends' relatives was from a major New York City hospital Executives, recently infected with covid. After taking chloroquine (without Zpack) for 4 days, his disease test result was negative and he has recovered. This medicine works.
In his Twitter post to Fox News Channel's "Hannity" show, a New York doctor identified by @RossFairchild shared his results using a combination of hydroxychloroquine (200 mg, 2 times daily), azithromycin (500 mg, 1 time daily), and zinc sulfrate (220 mg, once daily). 350 patients report breathing restored in 3 to 4 hours, achieving zero death, zero hospitalization and zero intubation.
At present, there are more and more examples of using these drugs to successfully cure covid. So the treatment methods are likely to be a key factor to reverse the current pandemic.
