Israel and the United Arab Emirates reached a historic agreement on 13 August 2020, agreeing to normalize bilateral relations and establish comprehensive diplomatic relations.
The two countries reached an agreement under the mediation of US President Trump, making the UAE the third Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with Israel after Egypt and Jordan.
Under the agreement, Israel will suspend its plan to annex the occupied territories of the West Bank.
According to the statements issued by the United States, Israel, and the UAE, the delegations of Israel and the UAE will hold meetings in the next few weeks to sign other related bilateral agreements on investment, tourism, direct flights, security, and telecommunications.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu described this as a historic day, and the agreement opened a new era of peace between Israel and the Arab world.
The UAE Foreign Minister also believes that the agreement will help restart the Middle East peace process.
