An external email received on 27 April 2020 from NAMSANJAE Patent & Trademark Attorneys in Pyongyang shows that the covid epidemic is raging in North Korea.
The writer Choe In Chol from NAMSANJAE reports, "By the way, we also inform you that, since it is very difficult or impossible to send original documents nowadays due to the spread of COVID-19, you could file patent and trademark applications with e-copies of the required documents first and provide the original documents later after the delivery service goes smooth. There will be no additional fees for late filing of originals in this COVID situation."
NAMSANJAE Patent & Trademark Attorneys is one of two major legal firms that engage in intellectual property work with the outside world. The other firm is Pyongyang IP Centre. North Korea is a country member of WIPO.
North Korea has suspended all domestic and international postal services due to the pandemic. There are no Air Koryo flights.
