Both North Korea and WHO have declared that no one in North Korea was infected with SARS-CoV-2 but South Korean media revealed that when a North Korean tried to stowaway to China, he was shot by a Chinese soldier and sent to hospital. In the hospital, his covid test was positive.

South Korean media DailyNK reported that North Korean sources revealed that a public wanted to cross the river to China on April 20. After being pursued by Chinese soldiers, he was shot and was taken to Longjing City Hospital in Jilin Province due to serious injuries. During treatment, the screening test results were positive.

The Chinese hospital that treated the North Korean immediately entered an emergency, not only quarantined the injured, but also strictly controlled the local people’s access to the hospital. This incident reminds people that North Korea and WHO all say that no one was infected in North Korea lie.

The covid outbreak broke out in early December last year, and North Korea was the first country to adopt strict management measures. On 22 January 2020, North Korea announced that it had entered the state of national emergency epidemic prevention, cut off the land, sea and air entry channels, blocked the border, banned Chinese entry, and isolated hundreds of foreigners.

In early April, Kim Jong-un announced to the world that North Korea had successfully survived the threat of SARS-CoV-2 and created a "good result" of no one diagnosed in the country; the World Health Organization (WHO) also stood up to endorse North Korea on 8 April, claiming that North Korea has no confirmed diagnosed cases so far, only more than 500 people need to be isolated.

The population of North Korea is more than 25.57 million. Because North Korea is adjacent to China and South Korea, which have serious epidemics, and the health conditions and medical standards in the country are very low, the outside world highly doubts the so-called "zero infection" and "zero confirmed cases" in the country.

According to the South Korean media DailyNK, citing North Korean military sources, more than 180 soldiers died in January and February alone. In addition, more than 3,700 soldiers across the country are being isolated.

South Korean media Chosun IIbo reported Christian group Voice of the Martyrs Korea  proselytizing in North Korea said an underground North Korean church member told it that SARS-CoV-2 has spread widely in Pyongyang and the border town of Sinuiju, North Pyongan Province. "The situation is so desperate that it is just a matter of dying from starvation or infection," the member wrote.

In early March, North Korean official media also mentioned that 3,000 suspected cases were quarantined, and then mentioned that there were about 3900 people with covid symptoms in Wuhan. Under medical supervision, the number of suspected cases in North Korea increased to more than 7,000.

The Liberty Times quoted reports on 12 April 2020 that a former North Korean official who fled North revealed that the North Korean epidemic may have been quite serious. The North Korean people have been chronically malnourished, unhealthy, and poorly immune, and North Korea ’s medical system is fragile and unstable. It is feared that North Korea ’s death toll will be more than the more than 3 million people who died in the 1990 North Korean famine.

North Korean official media Rodong Simun announced on 14 April 2020 through an editorial that North Korea will implement the emergency isolation policy for a long time, and the implementation time may also be extended.

Japan’s “Tokyo Shimbun” reported that a source familiar with the situation in North Korea stated that among the security personnel of Kim Jong-un, a person with covid was also found.

On 20 April 2020, multiple sources said that Kim Jong-un was in danger after his operation. The outside world questioned Kim Jong-un's critical illness due to infection with SARS-CoV-2.

Chinese expert Chen Pokong analyzed that if Kim Jong-un died of covid, it would not rule out that North Korea detonated a nuclear explosion into the China Communist Party because of bitter hatred.
