62 new diagnoses and 137 cases of asymptomatic infections in China on 7 April 2020

(Beijing, China, 8 April 2020) The COVID-19 epidemic in China has temporarily eased, and new cases are concentrated in cases imported from abroad. China notified 62 new confirmed cases on Tuesday. 59 were import cases and 3 were local cases, including 2 in Shandong and 1 in Guangdong. In addition, 137 cases of asymptomatic infections were added.

According to the National Health Commission’s announcement on its official website on Wednesday, there were two new deaths on Tuesday, including one from Wuhan.

At present, China has accumulatively confirmed 81,802 cases, 3,333 deaths, and 1042 cases imported overseas. The authorities also pointed out that 137 new cases of asymptomatic infections were added on Tuesday, 113 of which were from abroad. On the same day, 11 cases were confirmed; 1095 cases of asymptomatic infection were still under medical observation.

In Hubei Province, the epidemic-stricken area, there were no new confirmed cases, and 1 new death case. New suspected cases and existing suspected cases are all zero.
