Qatar Airways announced that it will further strengthen in-flight health and safety measures. Cabin crew will wear newly-designed protective clothing when performing flights; passengers will receive free Qatar Airways' intimately prepared protective suits during the flight, including protective masks and face masks, passengers It must be worn throughout the flight.
Qatar Airways prepared protective masks in two standard sizes that can be used by adults and children passengers in flight. The design of the children's face mask is based on the mascot of the Qatar Airways Kids Club (Oryx Kids Club), which can add fun to the journey of child passengers. Passengers departing from Doha Hamad International Airport (HIA) can receive protective masks free of charge in the check-in area of Qatar Airways; at other destinations, Qatar Airways staff will issue protective masks in the gate area.
During the voyage, each passenger will receive a protective kit prepared by Qatar Airways for free. The protective suit is individually sealed and contains a disposable surgical mask, a pair of large disposable powder-free gloves, and a bottle of alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Passengers traveling in Business Class will also receive an additional bottle of disinfectant with a capacity of 75 ml.

In addition, Qatar Airways also launched a newly designed disposable protective clothing for cabin crew, the upper left corner of the protective clothing bears Qatar Airways' exclusive brand logo. The cabin crew will wear protective glasses, gloves and masks, and additionally wear protective clothing outside the uniform during the flight mission.

In order to ensure a safe and hygienic cabin environment, passengers travelling in Economy Class must wear protective masks and face masks throughout the voyage, except when enjoying catering services. Passengers traveling in business class can decide whether to wear masks and face masks according to the privacy and size of business class. Qatar Airways has also taken other health and safety measures on flights, including optimizing the catering service process. In the business class, the catering service will adopt the "one plate end" model, cancel the table setting service, and the metal tableware will also be replaced with disposable tableware packages to reduce the risk of contact between the crew and passengers. In addition, Qatar Airways has also introduced disposable menu cards and freshly wrapped wipes in sealed packages for passengers to use during the flight. In Economy Class, meals and cutlery will be served as usual, and the menu card will be temporarily suspended. Currently, all public areas on the plane have been temporarily closed to better maintain social distance.
Qatar Airways' aircraft are regularly cleaned using effective aircraft disinfection products recommended by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the World Health Organization (WHO). All aircraft in its fleet are equipped with advanced HEPA high-efficiency air filters, which can effectively block 99.97% of virus and bacterial pollution particles in the circulating air, thereby maintaining the freshness and cleanliness of the cabin air and providing effective protection for passengers during flight.
Qatar Airways performs high-temperature anti-virus cleaning, drying and flattening of all on-board linens and blankets after each flight, and also strictly disinfects the on-board headphones. Workers must wear disposable gloves to seal and package supplies on board.
Qatar Airways cabin crew members have received relevant training in epidemic prevention and control in order to minimize the risk of virus infection and transmission. Flight attendants are required to undergo body temperature testing before and after the flight. If crew members or passengers on the same flight experience suspected symptoms or confirmed cases, the entire group must undergo medical isolation observation and nucleic acid testing.
In addition, Hamad International Airport requires disinfection of passenger contact points in the terminal every 10-15 minutes, and after the guarantee of each flight, the facilities at the boarding gate and far-boarding area should be cleaned. The airport has also placed disinfectant hand sanitizers for passengers at the immigration and security checkpoints.
Since mid-February 2020, Qatar Airways has helped nearly 2 million passengers reunite with their loved ones by operating scheduled flights, adding new charter flights and extending flight segments. Qatar Airways resumed 11 international routes on 1 July 2020, ushering in the day with the largest number of single-day resumption in the near future. By mid-July, Qatar Airways’ route network will cover more than 65 destinations worldwide.
