As of 4 June 2020, the number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 outside mainland China has reached 6.56 million, with 386,000 deaths. As the number of covid cases in the United States has declined,  domestic flight demand has soared. Meanwhile, Japan has begun to discuss the possibility of hosting a "simplified" Olympics.

As the U.S. restarts its economy, domestic flight demand soars. On Thursday, American Airlines announced that it will increase domestic flights substantially from July, and its capacity will increase to more than half of the same period last year. The number of international flights will also increase to one-fifth of the same period last year. As soon as the news came out, the share price of American Airlines rose immediately.

Meanwhile, Japan’s Governor of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike, said on Thursday that the covid pandemic is likely to affect the scale of next year’s Tokyo Olympics. The organizers of the Olympics are already discussing whether it is necessary to host a "simplified" Olympics. Possible measures include forcing spectators to undergo SARS-CoV-2 detection, reducing the number of spectators, and limiting the range of athletes.
