According to a report by Greece’s European Union News Agency, Qatar Airways issued a statement on 3 June that all passengers on the flight arriving at Athens International Airport on 1 June 2020 had a negative test for covid when they boarded the aircraft in Doha. Earlier, on the 2nd, the Greek government announced that 12 passengers on the Qatar flight that arrived in Athens International Airport on the 1st tested positive for covid, the authorities decided to suspend all flights to and from Qatar until 15 June.
According to reports, Qatar Airways stated that 12 passengers diagnosed with covid on board were not Qatari citizens. The statement said that when passengers (from different departure locations) arrived in Doha, before they boarded the plane to Athens, all passengers were tested in accordance with procedures and established anti-epidemic guidelines, and the results showed that they were suitable to continue the journey.
The Qatar Airways flight QR203 from Doha to Athens has 91 passengers on board.
According to the current Greek epidemic prevention regulations, 91 people on board arrived in Athens and arranged to stay in designated hotels and undergo quarantine testing. The test results showed that 12 passengers were positive for covid, including 9 Pakistani citizens, 2 Greeks from Australia, a Greek citizen from Japan, and the remainder legal residents of Greece.
The 12 passengers will be quarantined in the hotel for 14 days, and others as close contacts will be tested again after 7 days in quarantine.
According to the current quarantine procedures, all passengers arriving in Greece must undergo the new crown test. From 15 June, the Greek government will allow passengers from 29 countries, including PRC, to enter, excluding exemptions from mandatory quarantine and the covid test. The department will conduct a sample virus test on passengers.
