Recently, the US Customs and Border Protection Bureau again seized a batch of counterfeit banknotes from China. These counterfeit banknotes have a face value of $100, with a total value of up to $351,000.
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) pointed out that the counterfeit banknotes were seized at the operation of a courier and shipping company in Milwaukee. The counterfeit banknotes come from Shanghai, China, and the delivery address is in Milwaukee. The package was selected by officials for inspection, and 3,515 counterfeit US Dollar bills with a denomination of $100 were found after opening.
The batch of counterfeit banknotes is made of inferior materials, lacking the necessary watermark, without red and blue embedded fibers, the serial number of each banknote is also the same, and there are red Chinese characters on the back of the banknote.
"Imports of counterfeit currency will not only pose a threat to the US economy, but also affect national security." CBP Milwaukee Port Director William Braun said.
This type of counterfeit money is called "Foreign Printing Notes" and is a contraband in violation of federal law. These counterfeit notes were destroyed. But CBP officials said that last year alone, 100 million US dollars of counterfeit banknotes flowed into the market.
It is worth noting that CBP has recently seized more than one counterfeit banknote made in China. On December 14, last year, officials found 45 suspicious cartons in a container at International Springs Port in Minnesota. Upon further review, it was found that these cartons contained counterfeit currency with a face value of one yuan and a total value of 900,000 yuan. The authorities stated that all these cartons were sent from China.

On May 13th, CBP officials seized a batch of counterfeit banknotes with a denomination of 100 yuan, worth 252,300 US dollars, at the operating office of a courier and shipping company in Cincinnati. The parcel was sent by Shenzhen, China, and was examined by X-rays. After opening the package, the officials found that the counterfeit banknotes in 25 plastic bags appeared to be printed on plain paper by a high-quality printer. Each banknote had the same serial number, and there were Chinese characters on the back of the banknote.

The Secret Service said that such counterfeit banknotes made abroad were found in every major city in the United States. Agents and investigative analysts across the country will continue to work closely with local law enforcement units to inform the public and arrest relevant offenders.
The Secret Service also reminds consumers and retailers that after receiving the banknotes, they should be quickly inspected to ensure that they will not suffer losses due to counterfeit banknotes.
