In addition to Western medicine, Chinese medicine practitioners also try to find out the prescription to help the infected person recover. The research team in Taiwan used SARS treatment experience to find unique Chinese medicine formulas. The study found that this prescription can remove the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 from the body within 8 to 10 days, and is currently seeking to be included in the treatment guidelines.

At present, there are 21 cases in Taiwan receiving Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment. It takes about 8 days from the medication to the release of the isolation, that is, the three-negative medicine is discharged. The research team found that these Chinese medicines can prevent the development of pneumonia towards severe disease and reduce the time of recovery, while preventing the occurrence of re-yang and pulmonary fibrosis.

Traditional Chinese medicine recommends individual treatment. Different prescriptions are given to patients according to different conditions and different courses of disease. They are not as general as Western medicines such as remdesivir or chloroquine. "But when there are a large number of patients, any medical system uses common common principles to face problems," said Su Yizhang, Director of the National Institute of Chinese Medicine.

Therefore, the research team led by Su Yizhang, according to the treatment experience of SARS, and consulted international journals, gave different prescriptions to patients in mild, severe, critical, and recovery periods from covid.

In these prescriptions, traditional Chinese medicines such as Radix isatidis, Houttuynia cordata, mulberry leaf, whole melon, atractylodes, aconite, and yinchenhao are used.

Su Yizhang explained at the Severe Special Infectious Pneumonia (COVID-19) Chinese Medicine Prevention Seminar, "In the Qing Dynasty, Radix isatidis (Banlangen) was an important drug against the plague. Once you suspect that your condition will progress rapidly, you can use banlangen."

The main symptoms of this epidemic occurred in the lungs, so the stagnation of the lungs needs to be activated. Therefore, some medicines with wide chest and Qi are added, such as mulberry leaves and whole melon. If a patient has reached the stage of severe pneumonia, the patient will begin to have significant wheezing, fatigue, and may be cardiopulmonary failure. TCM practitioners will use aconite to strengthen cardiopulmonary function, strengthen the output of blood and blood in the lungs, and increase the return of veins to improve the lungs. function."

In the recovery period, yinchenhao is a very important drug to prevent pulmonary fibrosis. "Usually, yinchenhao is widely used in patients with liver disease, and it is a very good heat-removing and moisturizing drug," said Su Yizhang. It can prevent hepatitis from moving in the direction of cirrhosis but its role is not limited to the liver, and it can also be used in the lungs and kidneys.

Huang Yijia, director of the Chinese Medicine Department of the Three Military General Hospital, said that during the follow-up consultation of the patient, it was found that if some protective drugs were used during the recovery period, the patient's subsequent pulmonary fibrosis was "almost very little."

The current epidemic situation in Taiwan is slowing down and the plan is to export the prescription, but it will remove the prescription-controlled drugs from many countries, such as ephedra. As soon as July, it will enter Europe and America. "I hope to help countries that are still plagued by the epidemic," said Ke Fuyang, chairman of the All-China Federation of Chinese Medicine.
