According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan on 24 May 2020, 403 new cases of covid were confirmed on 23 May, a single-day increase of 5.1%.

The administrative division of Kazakhstan includes 3 municipalities and 14 states. On the 23rd, new cases appeared in 3 municipalities and 12 states. Among them, Karaganda's growth rate was the most "astonishing" that day, as high as 19.1%. In addition, the growth rate of North Kazakhstan and Turkstan Region broke ten, respectively, 15% and 11.8%.

As of the evening of 23 May 2020, a total of 8322 cases of new coronary pneumonia were diagnosed in Kazakhstan, 4214 were cured, and 35 died. The largest city, Almaty, and the capital, Nur-Sultan, are the "severely affected areas" of the epidemic, with a total of 2164 and 1598 cases diagnosed.

After Kazakhstan announced the end of the national emergency on the 11th of this month, the epidemic rebounded. The single-day increase in the number of confirmed cases in recent days has not fallen by 4%, and there have been more serious clustered infections in succession. It is reported that the Nurkazgan copper mine under the largest copper production and processing company in Kazakhstan was shut down due to an outbreak of group infection on 20 May.

Kazakhstan also officially released news that it will further lift the isolation restrictions according to the plan, and resume all domestic scheduled flights from 25 May 2020. According to Kazakhstan’s report, Kazakhstan and the Turkish government have recently conducted consultations and communications, and plan to resume navigation between the two countries in late June.

In terms of the number of diagnoses, Kazakhstan is currently the country with the worst epidemic in the five Central Asian countries. Tajikistan, which has an outbreak later, is the country with the largest number of deaths in the region.

In comparison, the epidemic situation in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan is now well controlled. As of the evening of the 23rd, Uzbekistan had a total of 3089 diagnosed cases, 2532 cured cases, and 13 deaths; Kyrgyzstan had 1365 diagnosed cases, 957 cured cases, and 14 deaths.
