On 15 May 2020, in response to the outbreak of a clustered infection, the Jilin City authorities in Jilin Province requisitioned the affiliated hospital of Jilin Medical College as the designated site of covid treatment. At the same time, the city's stadium and the China Shipping Theatre are being converted into square cabin hospitals to treat and isolate the rapidly increasing number of infected patients.
According to a video released by netizens, the affiliated hospital of Jilin Medical College (formerly Jiangnan Chinese People's Liberation Army 465 Hospital) has been emptied and will be used as a designated hospital to treat covid patients. All previous patients were transferred to other hospitals.
According to China Communist Party official media reports, so far, 33 cases have been diagnosed in Jilin, and 588 close contacts are under centralized isolation.
The actual situation may be much more serious. Therefore, from 13 May 2020, Jilin City announced the full closure of the city, and it is also the first city to be closed since the resumption of work in various places.
Jilin is the second largest city in Jilin Province, bordering North Korea and Russia. The population of Jilin is more than 4.4 million.
