According to Business Insider, Doha Hamad International Airport (HIA) is introducing new safety measures including robots and smart thermal protective helmets to prepare for the post-epidemic era.

The smart protective helmet is a "wearable smart helmet that is portable, safe, and effective, and can achieve non-contact temperature measurement." It uses a variety of technologies, including infrared thermal imaging, artificial intelligence, and AR (augmented reality) display.

Doha Hamad International Airport has also invested in a disinfectant robot, a completely autonomous mobile device that can emit concentrated UV-C light, which can effectively eliminate most infectious microorganisms. These robots are deployed in high-traffic areas to reduce the spread of pathogens.

All passengers can use disposable hand sanitizer at the main location. The airport will continue to use ground signs, signs, and long-distance seats to remind all passengers around the airport to maintain a social distance of 1.5 metres.

All retail and food and beverage stores at Doha Hamad International Airport will encourage cashless transactions through credit cards and consider introducing online or in-app purchases in the future.

Doha Hamad International Airport has also invested in the construction of a UV disinfection tunnel for disinfection of all registered passenger luggage (departures, arrivals and transfers). The airport will also regularly disinfect all luggage carts and bathtubs.

In addition, the airport also emphasizes the use of masks and gloves, and uses a mask detection system that uses artificial intelligence and computer vision technology to automatically detect whether everyone is wearing a mask. The airport will continue to clean and disinfect all high-touch areas every 10-15 minutes, while ensuring that everyone can use hand sanitizer.

Before the pandemic, Doha Hamad Airport transported 30 million passengers and 360,000 aircraft each year.
