531 confirmed covid cases in PRC in the past 14 days

The number of confirmed cases in mainland China has declined for 11 consecutive days, and the number of newly asymptomatic infections (12 cases) on 2 May 2020 is the lowest since the notification. However, the CCP government issued a warning on 3 April 2020. In the past 14 days, 10 provinces reported new local confirmed cases or asymptomatic infections. The risk of a rebound epidemic in the People's Republic of China (PRC) still exists.

The National Health Commission of PRC notified on 3 April 2020 that on 2 April 2020, provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 2 newly confirmed cases, of which 1 case was imported overseas, and a total of 1672 confirmed cases imported overseas (1221 cured and discharged) , no deaths. On the same day, 12 new cases of asymptomatic infections were added, and those who were not converted to confirmed cases, and 968 cases of asymptomatic infections still under medical observation.

As of 3 May 2020, there were an increase of 531 confirmed cases in mainland China in the past two weeks, with a total of 77,713 discharges and discharges and 4,633 deaths.

Mi Feng, a spokesman for the National Health Commission, said that although the current number of confirmed cases in the country has declined for 11 consecutive days, and the number of new asymptomatic infections is the lowest since the notification, 10 provinces in the past 14 days have reported new local confirmed cases or people with asymptomatic infections. This reminds that the risk of the epidemic rebound or even spread of the epidemic still exists. All localities must always maintain a high degree of vigilance and continue existing measures of epidemic prevention and control.

"Changyang" patients are less likely to infect without treatment but need to be observed in isolation

A few days ago, a small number of patients with covid in Wuhan had positive nucleic acid tests for a long time. Whether such patients are contagious and whether they need to continue treatment have aroused public attention.

At the press conference of the State Council’s Joint Defense and Joint Control Mechanism on the 3 April 2020, Liang Zongan, director of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, responded that no cases of “changyang” infection have been found. The infectivity of these patients cannot be completely ruled out, but the possibility of infection is low. The vast majority of "changyang" patients are asymptomatic. If there is no other underlying disease in these patients, no treatment is required, but the necessary isolation observation is required.

Heilongjiang epidemic outbreaks

As the epidemic in China accelerates its pace, Heilongjiang cities Harbin and Mudanjiang have issued "bans" on opening of restaurants and dining-in from 2 May and 3 May respectively. The relevant Ministry issued an announcement that from 3 May 2020, Mudanjiang's restaurants operating barbecues, shabu-shabu, shabu-shabu, hot pot stews and other catering services in the city will temporarily suspend dine-in until further notice.

Since the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council notified the clustered epidemic situations in Heilongjiang Province on 1 April 2020, the local clustered epidemic situation related to overseas imported cases has occurred in Harbin and Mudanjiang in Heilongjiang Province, especially involving multiple hospitals that have suffered from nosocomial infections. The many cases of covid infections have bad social impact on the PRC.

According to official data, in April, a total of 131 newly confirmed local cases were reported in mainland China, of which more than 60 per cent came from the local epidemic outbreaks in Heilongjiang Province.
