The CCP authorities and official anti-epidemic expert Zhong Nanshan supported the Chinese medicine Lianhua Qingwen, which was banned from entry by the Swedish customs. The Swedish research institute found that this Chinese Communist patent medicine, which claims to be effective against covid, contains only menthol.
Sound Of Hope, Guo Media and The Epoch Times reported on 9 May 2020 that the Swedish Drug Administration and the Customs Agency described Lianhua Qingwen as "drugs that are not allowed to be transported from countries outside the Schengen Area without permission" and have been detained on the border several times.
Lianhua Qingwen Capsule claims to contain about 13 herbs, but documents from the Swedish Customs Administration show that the customs laboratory analyzed the drug and the only ingredient they found was menthol.
The Swedish Medicines Agency warned, "No research has shown that the drug is effective, and we never recommend it."
Mainland official media reported that Lianhua Qingwen Capsule, which was used to treat SARS and novel influenza (H1N1), effectively relieved the symptoms of covid patients. The Chinese Communist patent drug has been exported to Italy, Iran and other countries as anti-epidemic drugs.
However, Dan Larhammar, a professor of biology at Uppsala University in Sweden, said that unless there is evidence that the proprietary Chinese medicine is effective, it would be “immoral” to launch a market for this drug.
The Swedish Drug Administration said that the drug is currently in circulation in many European countries and is being sold to covid patients, which has attracted the attention of many governments.
Countries are currently developing drugs to treat CCP viruses. The drug Remdesivir, developed by the US pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences, has been approved by the US and Japanese governments, and the CCP authorities have also approved three Chinese medicinal products for the treatment of covid, including Lianhua Qingwen. The official media of the Communist Party of China also conducted a high-profile publicity on this medicine.
After the outbreak of the CCP virus in the world, overseas Chinese have bought medicines such as Lianhua Qingwen from PRC. It is said that the medicine is also included in the health pack distributed by some Chinese embassies.
On 4 May 2020, the Chinese Communist Party’s diplomatic, health and publicity departments once again jointly touted the efficacy of Chinese medicine for epidemic prevention. At the same time, Zhong Nanshan, a member of the high-level expert group of the Guangdong Health Commission and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, once again deprecated the efficacy of Remdesivir, then recommended Lianhua Qingwen again through CCTV. He said that Lianhua Qingwen is suitable for more than 80% of covid patients and is "really effective".
