U.S. Department of State officials recently accused the China Communist Party (CCP) and Russia of jointly spreading false information through zombie accounts on community websites, affecting the public’s recognition of SARS-CoV-2.  Lea Gabrielle, Special Envoy and Coordinator of the Global Engagement Center (GEC) of the United States Department of State, told the outside world at a press conference that the CCP promoted the false information and the latest status of the propaganda on the virus epidemic.

Gabrielle said on the conference call that the CCP got a true message inspiration from Russia’s 2016 trick to intervene in the US presidential election with fake Internet news. After becoming a global target of the covid pandemic, CCP online forces began to spread rumours fast on Twitter at the end of March. The "Robot Net Army" was born in an attempt to shape the CCP's image as a "global leader, not the source of a global pandemic".

Gabrielle said that GEC used to examine nearly 5,000 Twitter accounts belonging to non-governmental organizations, journalists, and government entities, and found that the CCP is conducting a propaganda war on the virus, all of which point to "one artificial network": CCP ambassadors and diplomacy followers of Twitter accounts operated by other officials of the Ministry increased from about 30 per day at the end of March to more than 720 per day, but most of them are new accounts.

These trackers often track several accounts of the Chinese embassy at the same time, and the CCP officials then use these tracker posts to achieve publicity. Therefore, the United States fully suspects that many of them are not real fans at all, but robot nets.

Gabrielle pointed out that this phenomenon occurred when Beijing began the "big publicity" of the  virus, and these suddenly increased accounts were also used to track and propagate the narratives of CCP diplomats through the "artificial network", trying to persuade the public SARS-CoV-2 did not originate from China, and it attempted to overthrow the global narrative about the epidemic.  Russia, which has always had close relations with the China Communist Party, even "sing together with the CCP".

Gabrielle also pointed out that long before the outbreak occurred, the United States had discovered that China and Russia had a considerable degree of cooperation in propaganda activities. The CCP first used the anti-China movement in Hong Kong as a military training deduction. Later, SARS-CoV-2 spread globally, and the CCP has intensified. It even uses artificial intelligence and robots to distort public opinion. Their interests.

The U.S. Global Engagement Center (GEC) was established in 2017 and is responsible for integrating the actions of US government departments against foreign propaganda wars and false messages.

In addition, Voice of America (VOA) on 8 May 2020 also disclosed how Beijing composed rumours on the so-called 'virus' that the US military brought to Wuhan, and the source of the 'virus' is the fake news on the US Army Biological Laboratory in Fort Detrick, Maryland. The source of this fake news is an article  published in March on the website of the "Global Research Institution of Canada" supported by Russia, but the article has now been deleted. Zhao Lijian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China, re-posted this article when he tweeted on 12 March 2020 that the 'virus' was brought to Wuhan by the US military.

VOA also pointed out that apart from the close cooperation between CCP and Russia, even Iran has spared no effort to spread this conspiracy theory.

Fort Detrick Biological Laboratory is the largest research base for biological weapons in the US military. It was once closed in an emergency exercise last summer, and is the US' P4 laboratory, same as the P4 laboratory of  the Wuhan Institute of Viology.

US experts refuted allegations from the CCP.  They answered international media that the laboratory was closed last year from January to August 2019 as part of the US Department of Health's "Crimson Contagion" exercise, which happened to simulate the situation in which the virus was sprang from China.
