MIAT Mongolian Airlines has cancelled all international flights to Moscow, Frankfurt and Berlin from Ulaanbaatar after a French national who arrived in Ulaanbaatar from Moscow on an Aeroflot flight was diagnosed positive with COVID-19 (covid, in short). The airline has already suspended flights to Bangkok, Beijing, Busan, Hong Kong, Incheon and Narita in February and early March. Flights to Busan, Incheon, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude and Narita are further suspended until 28 March 2020.
Hunnu Air has also suspended flights to Inner Mongolia from Ulaanbaatar and between Ulaanbaatar and other Mongolian cities.
Immediately, the State Emergency Commission of the Mongolia Government has instructed the capital and other Mongolian cities to implement lock down measures including prohibiting anyone, any cars and public transport from entering or leaving the Mongolian cities.
From 10 to 16 March 2020, all flights and train services arriving in Ulaanabaatar are suspended to curb the spread of covid. All tourists and Mongolians cannot enter or leave Ulaanbaatar and other Mongolian cities until the lock down measure is over.
According to the Mongolian national news agency Montsame, the French citizen is going under treatment at a hospital in Dornogobi airmag after arriving from Ulaanbaatar on 7 March 2020. He is in stable condition.
Montsame also reported that the Mongolia President Kh. Battulga has returned to work after self-isolation of 13 days after a state visit to China on 27 February 2020.

Concerning this, the Emergency Commission of Dornogobi aimag convened an emergency meeting and decided to isolate 28 people, who traveled on the same train with him to Dornogobi aimag. Moreover, 59 employees of the “Badrakh Energy” company, where the patient was reportedly working for, have been taken into quarantine.
Movements of auto vehicles to and from Dornogobi aimag and traffic between soums of the aimag have been suspended for an indefinite period. All gym and sports centres operating across the aimag have also been closed.
So far more than 120 people had close contact with him have been identified and taken to quarantine. Over 500 people with indirect contact with him have been tracked down and currently are under medical observation.
