A notice referring to the "hepatitis A epidemic caused by consumption of seafood in Dalian and Dandong" issued on 6 March 2020 by  Jiuzhou Tong (Jinzhou) Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. a company in Jinzhou, Liaoning Province, China, and exposed on the Internet on 7 March 2020 (Saturday) shows that there has been an outbreak of hepatitis A in Dalian and Dandong, China. The notice warned employees that a hepatitis A epidemic had broken out in these cities. They have been advised not to consume seafood products for the time being and while preventing COVID-19 (covid, in short) infection, it is also necessary to prevent hepatitis infection.

In response to media inquiries that night, the Dalian Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that the cases of hepatitis A in Dalian are still in a "spreading state" and have not yet  reached stage of "concentrated outbreak". As early as the end of February this year, the Chinese online community has circulated the outbreak of hepatitis A in Liaoning and Shandong. However, the Chinese Communist Party has treated the information as "rumours", causing the outside world to worry that the CCP is repeating the same mistakes as it has done during the covid pandemic.

After this notice was exposed on the Internet, there has been widespread concern and discussion in the online community as to whether the hepatitis A epidemic has erupted in Liaoning Province.

China Media's "Daily Economic News" checked the authenticity of the notice with Jiuzhou Tong staff on the day and was confirmed by the staff. Later, the media queried the Dalian Centers for Disease Control on this issue, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention replied that there was indeed a case of hepatitis A in Dalian, but it is still in a distributed state and has not reached a centralized outbreak (state).

The staff of the CDC also said that the current data show that the incidence of hepatitis A this year is about 1.2% -1.4% higher than the same period last year. "It is possible to issue guidance notices within enterprises and institutions, but it is recommended to refer to official news from the control centre. "

It is understood that as early as the last two days of February this year, the news of the outbreak of hepatitis A virus (hepatitis A) in Liaoning and Shandong has begun to spread in the online community in mainland China. At the time, some netizens broke the news that there have been many cases of hepatitis A in Donggang city under the jurisdiction of Dandong City, Liaoning Province  and Zhuanghe city under the jurisdiction of Dalian. The local infectious disease hospitals are already overcrowded.

Some netizens also issued an official emergency notice on WeChat, referring to the laboratory test of the Zhuanghe Central Hospital's liver function. Five of the 12 people had positive liver function. These news all point out that seafood is likely to be the source of hepatitis A infection, calling on local citizens to stop eating seafood to prevent the spread of hepatitis A.

On 28 February, Shandong Penglai Center for Disease Control and Prevention also reported that there were multiple cases of hepatitis A in the city, and most of them had eaten shellfish 26 to  weeks before the onset of illness.

However, on 29 February, many CCP media, including Xinhuanet.com, came out to "remove rumors", saying that the hepatitis A in Donggang City and Zhuanghe City were "spreading out", and that there were no "second-generation cases."

Dandong City News Office official also posted a post on 2 March stating that "Although the number of cases of hepatitis A in our city has risen slightly, it is within the controllable range." On the same day, the official media of CCP reported that the Donggang Public Security Bureau had "summoned and admonished many wantonly spread rumors. "

The authorities' response to the hepatitis A outbreak reflects what has actually happened in the early stage of the covid outbreak. Wuhan officials and police worked together to suppress the news of front-line doctors and conceal the truth that mass infection and even medical infection had occurred. As a result, the covid epidemic sharply deteriorated and spread rapidly in the following month. Wuhan  has been closed for nearly 50 days and has not yet been lifted.

The painful lesson is just around the corner. The public questioned the CCP's response to the outbreak of the hepatitis A epidemic in Liaoning. Many people are afraid CCP is repeating the same mistakes as the Wuhan pneumonia epidemic.

Data show that hepatitis A is an acute infectious disease that occurs in the liver and is caused by hepatitis A virus infection. The incubation period for hepatitis A virus is approximately 2 to 6 weeks. The most common routes of transmission are dietary infections and infections that occur in close contact with patients.

The clinical symptoms of patients with hepatitis A include fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, yellowing of the skin, fever, and abdominal pain. Medical examination showed hepatomegaly and abnormal liver function, and some cases showed jaundice. Severe patients may develop acute liver failure.
