Xu Shuchang, a lecturer professor in the Department of Respiratory System of the Chinese University who is one of the expert advisors of the Hong Kong Government's Anti-epidemic Steering Committee recently, said that the University of Hong Kong's test showed that the CT value reflecting the virus's activity level above 30 is a safe level. Below 30, there is a risk of virus transmission.

To confirm whether there is a risk of transmission, blood must be drawn to see if the amount of neutralizing antibody is above the level.

Xu Shuchang said that of the nine “fuyang” cases in Hong Kong, two people had a CT value below 30, that is, the amount of virus in the body was relatively high. These two people have been to different places after being discharged from the hospital. There is a higher risk of community infection. If "fuyang" patients  are engaged in high-risk industries including hospitals, medical staff, etc., the risk of transmission will be even higher, and even cause the epidemic to go out of control.

Shuchang also added that the survival time of SARS-CoV-2 in the human body can be as long as one month, and can suppress immune cells, so that the CT value of inpatients is constantly changing. So more samples need to be sent for analysis before the CT value can be determined and confirmed whether 30 or above is really safe and whether it is necessary to adjust the discharge standard.
