The Central Epidemic Prevention Steering Group led by Sun Chunlan, Vice Premier of the State Council of the Communist Party of China, returned to Beijing shortly after returning from Wuhan. Another liaison group led by Ding Xiangyang, Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council, went to Wuhan again to "prevent the rebound of the epidemic". Against the background of Wuhan ’s announcement that the CCP’s covid patient data was “cleared,” the CCP sent a team to Wuhan again and arouse public opinion.
According to media reports in mainland China, a newly established liaison group under the "joint defense and joint control mechanism" of the State Council of the CPC has arrived in Wuhan on 4 May 2020. The group is led by Ding Xiangyang, Deputy Secretary General of the State Council, and Yu Xuejun, Deputy Director of the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, as deputy group leader.
Mainland China media said that the main task of this liaison group in Wuhan is to "investigate the prevention and control of epidemic situation in key places", "prevent the rebound of the epidemic situation and take into account the situation of resuming work, resuming production and returning to school", and "take on other tasks assigned by leaders".
As early as 27 April 2020, the CCP officially announced that, except for the so-called "asymptomatic infected persons," all the covid patients in Hubei Province have been "cleared." The Central Anti-epidemic Steering Group, led by Sun Chunlan, the vice premier of the Communist Party of China, also returned to Beijing from Wuhan on 27 April 2020.
Just one week later, the State Council of the Communist Party of China set up a new contact group to sit in Wuhan, which caused the overseas public opinion to be suspicious. Some media questioned that the “clearing” of patients in Wuhan was a fraud. Some media suspected that there may be new changes in the epidemic in Wuhan. There are overseas Chinese netizens who believe that the CCP Party official arrived there “to undertake other tasks assigned by leaders”. There are mysteries. Often these "other jobs" that cannot be put on the table are the real work of the CCP officials.
Wuhan resident Zhang Ruyi said in an interview with Radio Free Asia (RFA) that Wuhan local health officials have always played a role in concealing and blocking outbreak information since the Wuhan virus outbreak in December 2019. In order to reduce the statistics of the number of infected people, they even worked on some cases and classified them as common pneumonia. People in mainland China now have very low trust in the PRC government.
